Blanchardstown Centre  raises over €30,000 for Mental Health Ireland

Blanchardstown Centre proudly supports world mental health month

Blanchardstown Centre invited customers to a family fun event last weekend in aid of Mental Health Ireland. The event celebrated Mental Health awareness month with representatives on hand to chat to customers about how to take care of their mental health. We celebrated wellbeing with feel good family entertainment and retail therapy with stores offering discounts all weekend. Over €12,000 was raised over the weekend, all funds raised will help the charity provide free training and resources for community groups, educational scholarships for people with experience of mental health challenges, support volunteers around the country, and roll out national campaigns aimed at fighting stigma and raising awareness.

“We are very proud to support Mental Health Ireland for a third year now, to Be There for our Customers with positive engaging customer focused events that drive awareness and promote the importance of taking care of our mental health. Over €30,000 has been raised over the past 3 years and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their generous donations and thank our retailers and staff for their support. Customers can Be There for each other, Be There for themselves and also Be There to support Mental Health Ireland,” said Ciara Curtis, Marketing Manager, Blanchardstown Centre

“With the amazing support of Blanchardstown Centre, again this year, we were able to raise €12,272.20 for Mental Health Ireland, a very substantial sum which has a significant impact in supporting the work of our organisation. The funds will be used to further our core programmes around mental health promotion and supporting people in recovery. The funds also directly support the free literature and information booklets that we distributed during the fundraiser at Blanchardstown Centre and help to continue to promote mental health awareness to other groups across Ireland” Lisa Cuthbert, CEO Mental Health Ireland

Donate for Discounts weekend was back for a third year with a fun filled weekend of self-care, shopping and supporting Ireland’s longest running mental health charity this weekend. Customers donated just €3 to receive amazing discounts across the Centre and retail parks. All funds raised went to Mental Health Ireland.

“Blanchardstown Centre is very proud to be partnering up with Mental Health Ireland for a third year in a row to Be There for our Customers with a positive and engaging customer focused event ahead of World Health Month in October. We look forward to welcoming customers and the Mental Health Ireland team to ‘Donate for Discounts’ this weekend. Customers can donate just €3 to avail of discounts from stores throughout the Centre and retail parks. Customers can Be There for each other, Be There for themselves and also Be There to donate to Mental Health Ireland,” said Ciara Curtis, Marketing Manager, Blanchardstown Centre

All funds raised will go to Mental Health Ireland to help the charity provide free training and resources for community groups, educational scholarships for people with experience of mental distress, support volunteers around the country, and roll out national campaigns aimed at fighting stigma and raising awareness.

“We are delighted to team up with Blanchardstown Centre again this year to promote the importance of making time for our own mental health, and the different ways we can do this,” said Mental Health Ireland CEO Lisa Cuthbert.
“The Be There festival kicks off Mental Health Month in October when Mental Health Ireland will be rolling out a programme of events, activities and workshops across the country to celebrate the theme of ‘Connecting’ and the many benefits of making connections for our mental health. For some, this weekend could be an opportunity to connect with a neighbour or friend they haven’t seen in a while, a chance to check in with themselves and take some time away from a busy week, to support the local community and to give back by supporting our charity.”

About Mental Health Ireland
Established in 1966, Mental Health Ireland is the longest established mental health charity in Ireland. Throughout our history, we and the Mental Health Associations, have played a central role in reshaping how the public understand mental health challenges, bringing practical expression to national policy objectives. We have Development Officers across the country who link with our network of Mental Health Associations, volunteers and community groups, promoting mental health and supporting recovery in their communities. Mental Health Ireland are now also the employer of people working in recovery education and peer led community services across the country. www.mentalhealthireland.ie
