Blanchardstown Centre shoppers have helped to raise an incredible €10,000 for Mental Health Ireland during the latest Donate for Discounts weekend, held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September. Now in its fourth year, Donate for Discounts weekends at Blanchardstown Centre have raised a combined total of €40,000 for Mental Health Ireland, Ireland’s longest running mental health charity.
Across the weekend, visitors to Blanchardstown Centre who donated €5 upon entry to the Centre received an exclusive #BeThere wristband which allowed them to unlock amazing discounts across participating stores in the Centre and Retail Parks.
All proceeds from wristband sales go directly to Mental Health Ireland, helping them to fund vital services such as free training and resources for community groups, educational scholarships for people with lived experience of mental distress, support for volunteers nationwide and national campaigns to fight stigma and raise awareness.
The Donate for Discounts weekend kicks off Mental Health Month in October, with October 10th marking World Mental Health Day, which provides an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
Ciara Curtis, Marketing Manager at Blanchardstown Centre, said: “We are proud to show our continued support to Mental Health Ireland through the Donate for Discounts weekend. The event has proved to be hugely popular among visitors to Blanchardstown Centre over the last four years, raising much needed funds for such an important cause. This is about being there for each other, for ourselves, and for our community.”
Dr. Lisa Cuthbert, CEO of Mental Health Ireland, said: “The generosity of Blanchardstown Centre staff, stores and customers is greatly appreciated. This year’s Donate for Discounts weekend saw us raise €10,000, bringing to €40,000 the amount raised over the past four years. Every donation we receive makes a difference and will help us fund free mental health information, education, and resources and to reach those who need our support the most.”
